The Swedish soprano Annie Ternström is currently studying for her Masters degree at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW), under the guidance of the renowned mezzo soprano Michaela Schuster. She earned her bachelor degree at the same university, in the class of Kammersängerin Edith Lienbacher. Before moving to Vienna for her university studies, Ulrika Mjörndal, recipient of the Jenny Lind Scholarship, was her voice teacher. She thrives on the stage, where her presence and vocal qualities come across beautifully to the audience.
Despite her young age, Annie has an extensive repertoire and an impressive history of performances. She has been part of several opera productions at the MDW, performing roles such as the Governess in Turn of the Screw, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, and Frau Fluth in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. She has performed at the Baltic Sea Festival at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm and portrayed Jenny Lind in an award-winning music documentary produced by the Swedish Television (SvT). Other venues at which she has performed include Confidencen, Nybrokajen 11 (Musikaliska) and Schönbrunn Schloßtheater, as well as Hedvig Eleonora Church and the Eric Ericson Hall. Annie is the recipient of scholarships such as Joel Berglund’s, and Aurora Lillieros’.
After her first contact with opera, at age eleven, Annie knew she had to learn how to do it. She was deeply fascinated and captured by the Art of opera, an interest that has blossomed over time and taken her to where she is today. Being too young for the operatic repertoire, and given her love for jazz, she started out performing mainly as a jazz singer. In addition to her classical and operatic repertoire, Annie still enjoys giving occasional jazz concerts.
